This is a photo of my original painting from the 60s entitled “Redemption.” This is one of my favorite paintings and it disappeared sometime around 1967 from a garage in Orange County, California. I took a trip to Hawaii and when I got back it was gone. It may have been sold at a swap meet or pawn shop by a drug addict who frequented the house. It is oil on canvas about 6′ square. The piece shows hope, discouragement, life, and death. The main image is God with his raised hand to show peace and hope. I really want to get it back home.
The center image is Abraham Lincoln the president who both brought on the Civil War and also freed the enslaved. He represents conflict and freedom.
To the right is John F. Kennedy, the young president who symbolizes youth, conviction, and statesmanship. JFK dared us to dream big. He gave the nation a challenge to travel to the moon that many thought was impossible. He symbolizes hope, tenacity, and youth.
To the left is Martin Luther King who raised the downtrodden, challenging the thinking of society, and ushered in changes in minds and in practices.
On the far left is Robert Kennedy. He worked with his brother JFK and tried to go after corruption and bring about greater justice to society.
The images are placed in the barrel of a gun with bullets around the barrel. This shows that violence often accompanies ideas. It also reminds us those with bold ideas are often targeted with violence and guns were used to assassinate MLK, JFK, RFK, and Abraham Lincoln.
The embryo on the left depicts the future championed by the individuals on the painting. The ideas and actions of these individuals would give society a new birth into a better future.
My painting disappeared sometime around 1967. I would like to get it back and offer a $10,000 reward for its return — no questions asked. If you can help me recover my painting please click this link to contact me.
